Refund Policy

Our general principle: if ClaimHit fails to deliver what you paid for, we will make it right. We have a straightforward refund process and aim to resolve all requests within 3 business days.

1. Search Credits

What are search credits?

Search credits are purchased in advance and used to run infringement scans. One credit = one scan. Credits do not expire and can be used at any time after purchase.

Refund eligibility

  • Credit packs purchased but not used — eligible for a full refund within 30 days of purchase if no credits from that pack have been used. Contact us at hello@claimhit.com with your order reference.
  • Partially used packs — eligible for a pro-rata refund of unused credits within 30 days of purchase.
  • Credits used for a search that returned no results — if a scan fails to return any results due to a technical error on our side (not a genuine "no infringers found" result), the credit will be refunded or the scan will be re-run at no charge.
  • Credits used for scans that completed successfully — not eligible for refund, even if you are disappointed with the results. AI analysis is for preliminary research and results will vary by patent and market.

2. Hit Chart Credits

The same policy applies to Hit Chart credits as to search credits — unused credits are refundable within 30 days, used credits are not.

If a Hit Chart generation fails due to a technical error (error message, no chart produced), the credit will be automatically returned to your account. If this does not happen within 24 hours, contact us.

3. Expert Review Orders

Expert Review is a professional services engagement. The following policy applies:

  • Before work begins — if you cancel your request within 24 hours of submission and before our team has confirmed and begun work, no charge applies. Contact us immediately at hello@claimhit.com.
  • After confirmation but before delivery — if our team has confirmed your order and begun work, a cancellation fee of 50% of the agreed price applies to cover work completed.
  • After delivery — Expert Review reports are not eligible for refund after delivery, as the intellectual work has been completed and delivered.
  • Quality disputes — if you believe the delivered analysis does not meet the standard described, contact us within 14 days of delivery. We will review the concern and, at our discretion, provide a revised analysis, partial credit, or partial refund.

Remember: Expert Review is invoiced by pro forma invoice on delivery — you are not charged upfront. If you decide not to proceed after receiving the pro forma invoice, contact us within 7 days and we will cancel the invoice.

4. Wire Transfers

Credits purchased via wire transfer follow the same policy as card purchases. If a wire transfer is received in error or for an amount different from intended, contact us and we will resolve it within 5 business days.

5. Free Tier

Free searches and free Hit Charts are provided at no charge and are not subject to this refund policy.

6. How to Request a Refund

Email hello@claimhit.com with:

  • Your account email address
  • The date of purchase
  • The amount paid and what was purchased
  • The reason for your refund request

We will respond within 3 business days. Approved refunds are processed within 5–10 business days to your original payment method.

7. Disputes

If you are not satisfied with our response to a refund request, you may contact your card issuer or payment provider to initiate a chargeback. We take chargebacks seriously and will provide full documentation to support legitimate refund disputes. Fraudulent chargebacks will be contested.
